About This Position

Position Details
- Title: Registered Nurse (RN) — NICU
- Location: Apple Valley, CA
- Assignment length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day (3x12 hours), 6:00–18:30
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours/week
- Pay: $56.00–$67.00/hour (hourly)
Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based NICU nursing care across a range of gestational ages, including < 24–28 weeks, 29–34 weeks, and > 34 weeks.
- Provide high-acuity support for conditions such as respiratory failure and perform isolation/PPE and neonatal sepsis workup as indicated.
- Monitor and support hemodynamic status, including telemetry support on the unit and assisting with invasive hemodynamic monitoring when needed.
- Manage IV therapies, including starting/maintaining IVs, arterial line management, central line/implanted line care, and central line blood draws.
- Support medication administration and neonatal emergency care, including IV vasopressors, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and neonatal dosage calculations.
- Assist with advanced procedures and therapies, including APGAR scoring, developmental care interventions, and therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket).
- Provide family/patient education, including breastfeeding support and handling expressed breast milk.
- Document care accurately in Epic.
Requirements
- RN experience: 2 years of RN experience; if less than 2 years, candidates may be screened with Level 4 NICU experience.
- Patient ratio experience: 1:2–3.
- Charting system: Epic (required).
- Community hospital experience (required).
- Travel experience (required). If less than 2 years NICU experience, candidates will not be screened; if 2+ years NICU experience, screening may occur.
- Certifications: BLS and NRP Advanced (NRP Advanced required; will allow NRP if willing to get advanced prior to start).
- Therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) (required).
- Respiratory experience: Vapotherm (required) and chest tube management (required).
- Respiratory medication experience: Nitric Oxide (Ino) (required).
- Medication experience: administration of conscious sedation (required).
- Work settings/patient care experience: attend high risk deliveries (required), Mother/Baby (required), NICU III (required), and NICU IV (required).
- GI experience: gastroschisis/omphalocele (required).
- Endocrine/metabolic experience: insulin administration (required).
- Additional skills: manage PICC lines.
