About the Role
As a Med-Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse, you'll care for adult patients experiencing a variety of medical conditions and post-surgical recoveries that require both skilled nursing care and continuous cardiac monitoring.
You'll assess patients, develop and implement care plans, administer medications and treatments, monitor telemetry readings, and identify changes in patient condition to support timely interventions. This fast-paced specialty demands excellent assessment skills, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to manage multiple patients effectively.
Success in this role requires a thorough understanding of acute care nursing, telemetry monitoring, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care for adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
Monitor, interpret, and respond to telemetry and cardiac rhythm changes
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing evaluations
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
Monitor vital signs and recognize changes in patient condition
Care for patients recovering from illness, injury, and surgical procedures
Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and healthcare teams
Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning
Maintain accurate documentation within electronic medical record systems
Follow evidence-based practices, patient safety standards, and hospital protocols
Minimum Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Current BLS certification
Current ACLS certification
Minimum of 2 years of recent Med-Surg and/or Telemetry nursing experience
Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Ability to accurately interpret telemetry and cardiac monitoring data
Excellent communication and multitasking abilities
