About This Position

Sancta Familia Medical Apostolate is looking for 1 Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work as a Clinic Triage Nurse.

Schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Lunch: Clinic is closed daily from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.

Evening Rotation: Each nurse rotates one month at a time. During your assigned rotation month, every Tuesday shift will be 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM instead of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Job Summary: The Clinic Triage Nurse member of the Sancta Familia Medical Apostolate (SFMA) is required to provide and coordinate delivery of clinical resources to assure safe, high quality patient care and ensure continuity of care. The main role of the Clinic Triage Nurse will be phone triage, checking patient messages, and calling on patient laboratory results, and providing patient education. The Clinic Triage Nurse delivers basic practice nursing care such as supporting patients to recover, monitoring conditions of patients, screening, and health prevention. The Clinic Triage Nurse works collaboratively with general practitioner(s) to provide assessment, treatment, education, and care to all kinds of patients, ranging from infants to elderly people.

Responsibilities:

Assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs for promoting well-being and health and preventing adverse effects on them.

Prioritizing health problems and intervening appropriately, in order to assist patients in emergency, complex, or urgent situations, including commencement of valuable emergency care.

Consulting, providing advice, and information about various health conditions or any minor ailments, referring them to other practice team members as necessary.

Taking phone messages from patients and providing patient education, scheduling patients for follow-ups, and much more.

Implementing and participating in immunization and vaccination programs for both children and adults.

Advising, supporting, and administering vaccinations for patients. Assist in controlling patient flow, performing EKG tests, obtaining blood pressure measurements, drawing laboratory studies, administering injectables (intravenous, intramuscular, subcutaneous), start peripheral IV’s, and documenting vital signs in the EMR.

Performing routine procedures like eye washing, ear syringing, treating wounds, and applying or removing dressings.

Providing advice or offering specialist information in areas like blood pressure, heart conditions, giving up smoking, weight control.

Advising patients with respect to their continuing nursing and medical needs.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

Knowledge of Nebraska RN or LPN standards, requirements and regulations.

Practices within the ethical/legal framework of nursing.

Possess a strong foundation in nursing theory, concepts and knowledge, health and sciences, humanities, research, and ethics.

Knowledge of RN/LPN/patient safety, cleanliness and infection control policies and regulations.

Working Under Pressure – Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations. Education and Experience

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Associates degree in nursing (AND) required.

Must meet requirements to maintain RN or LPN license

1-2 years of previous nursing experience preferred Certification and Licensure

Current license as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA) required Work Environment

Additional Details:

Environmentally controlled medical office environment

Fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations

Exposure to radiation which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as protective lead aprons, gloves and other shielding devices and monitored by radiation badges

Possible exposure to bodily fluids, infectious specimens, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a medical office environment

Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
