Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients in a Progressive Care Unit setting.
- Monitor patient conditions, respond to changes, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Complete accurate clinical documentation and communicate patient updates during handoffs.
- Follow established safety, infection prevention, and emergency response practices.
Requirements
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Epic experience is required and is a hard-stop requirement.
- Required respiratory skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration.
- Required IV therapy and phlebotomy skills: blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, and starting and maintaining IVs.
- Experience working with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and telemetry settings.
- Required feeding tube care and management.
- Required medication skills: heparin protocols and management of cardiac drips without titration.
- Procedural sedation administration and monitoring.
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring on the unit.
- Required knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE.
- Cardiovascular experience with post-cardiac angiogram care, pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, and pre- and post-cardiac surgery care.
