About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Neuro Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized neurological care across diverse healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in neuro nursing, including managing complex neurological conditions, performing detailed patient assessments, and implementing advanced treatment protocols. The Travel Neuro RN will be responsible for ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert nursing practices, adherence to safety standards, and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough neurological assessments, including evaluating motor, sensory, reflexes, and cognitive functions to determine patient status.
Administer specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin injections and manage acute pain related to neurological conditions.
Monitor patients with complex needs, including those requiring ventilator support or post-surgical neuro care, ensuring safety and stability.
Perform diagnostic evaluations such as CT scans or assist with lumbar punctures while maintaining aseptic technique.
Manage medication administration specific to neuro conditions, including IV infusions and sedation protocols.
Document patient progress accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Requirements
Valid RN license with current state licensure; additional certification in neurology nursing preferred.
Must have a minimum of 1 recent year of Neuro experience and 2 years RN experince
Must have ICU experience
Must have stepdown unit experience
Must have EPIC experience
Flexibility to work every other weekend required
Flexibility to work every other holiday required
Ability to float as needed is required
Knowledge of neurodiagnostic tools such as ICD coding for neurological diagnoses and familiarity with ICD-10 coding standards.
