About This Position
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel CVPICU RN to provide specialized nursing care within the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) in Phoenix, Arizona. The ideal candidate will possess extensive critical care experience, particularly in pediatric and cardiac settings, and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centered care. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing complex medical cases, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and ensuring adherence to the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the CVPICU, including those requiring advanced cardiac support, ventilator management, and post-operative monitoring.
Perform detailed patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and physiological evaluations utilizing advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner and Epic.
Administer medications safely, including IV infusions, sedation, analgesics, and specialized treatments like botulinum toxin therapy when indicated.
Manage complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, tube feeding, aseptic techniques for invasive interventions, and suturing as needed.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including cardiologists, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and other specialists—to develop individualized care plans aligned with best practices in trauma medicine and critical care standards.
Maintain meticulous medical documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations and ensure compliance with NCQA standards for quality assurance.
Provide education and emotional support to patients’ families while coordinating discharge planning and post-acute care arrangements.
Requirements
Current State of Arizona RN license or RN license from a compact state with multistate privileges, or the ability to establish licensure in Arizona prior to start date required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in pediatric CVICU and 2 years of RN experience required.
Experience working in a hospital with a Level III or IV NICU required.
Experience floating to NICU and PICU units required.
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required.
Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association required.
NRP certification is preferred.
Pediatric hospital experience required.
