Requirements and Skills
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Minnesota
- Previous experience in Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery nursing
- Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills specific to maternal and neonatal care
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team collaboration
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Obstetrics and Labor & Delivery unit
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being, interpreting vital signs and other clinical indicators
- Assist in labor management, including supporting delivery procedures as appropriate
- Educate patients and families about childbirth, postpartum care, and newborn care
- Collaborate closely with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in compliance with facility policies and legal requirements
- Respond promptly to patient emergencies and effectively coordinate care as needed
Qualifications
- Valid RN licensure in Minnesota
- Evidence of specialized training or certification in Obstetrics, Labor & Delivery nursing (such as Inpatient Obstetric Nursing Certification) preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in an OB/L&D nursing role
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in high-stress situations
- Strong teamwork skills and commitment to patient-centered care
