Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to enhance their comfort and independence
Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates
Support medical procedures by preparing patients and assisting with tasks like catheter care or basic wound management
Maintain detailed medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and communicate changes or concerns effectively
Use proper manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts to ensure safe patient transfers and prevent injuries
Monitor patients’ conditions closely, report any changes promptly, and assist in emergency response situations including CPR or other life support measures
Experience
Prior experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant in settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living communities, or home care environments
Knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic techniques, and infection control practices including infectious disease care
Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation
Familiarity with specialized care areas such as dementia/memory care, Alzheimer’s care, behavioral health, or pediatric nursing is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations including geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice or palliative care
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus
