Responsibilities
- Support safe, efficient procedural care across cardiac, vascular, electrophysiology, neurological, abdominal and pelvic, genitourinary, and special procedures.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other members of the procedural team throughout patient care.
- Prepare for procedures, contribute to room readiness, and support workflow before, during, and after interventions.
- Follow applicable safety, infection prevention, isolation, and personal protective equipment practices.
Requirements
- Certifications: ACLS, ARRT R, BLS, Fluoro Permit, and CCI RCIS required. RCIS is acceptable with 5 or more years of experience.
- Procedural responsibilities: accurate monitoring, equipment setup, and scrubbing while maintaining a sterile field.
- Abdominal and pelvic procedures: angioplasty, chest tube placement, embolization, ERCP, gastrostomy tube placement, inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement, liver biopsy, paracentesis, radioembolization, stent placement, and thoracentesis.
- Vascular studies and procedures: angioplasty, carotid stenting, central venous access/port placement, dialysis graft creation/revision, dialysis graft interventions including fistulograms and declots, endovascular interventions, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, TIPS (transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt), and upper and lower extremity angiography.
- Cardiac cath lab procedures: cardiac stent placement, diagnostic adult catheterizations, hemodynamic monitoring, Impella insertion, left heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), permanent pacemaker insertion (PPI), right heart catheterization, and temporary pacemaker procedures.
- Electrophysiology studies: cardioversion, insertion and programming of AICDs, and pacemaker insertion.
- Neurological studies and procedures: carotid angiography, stent placement, and thrombolysis/thrombectomy.
- Work settings: diagnostic cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology (EP) lab, interventional cardiac cath lab, interventional radiology, and special procedures.
- Equipment and devices: fluoroscopy.
- Professional knowledge and skills: isolation precautions and PPE.
- Equipment operation and maintenance: maintain equipment, maintain inventory, use PACS, and stock supplies.
- Genitourinary studies and procedures: renal artery stent placement and ureteral stent placement.
- Additional skills: coil embolization/peripherals and any additional requirements listed in the text box.
