Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in antepartum, high-risk antepartum, Labor and Delivery, LDRP, and Mother/Baby settings.
- Support facility birth volumes exceeding 300 births per month and care for patients with high-risk pregnancies.
- Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy, including administration of blood and blood products, venous blood draws, central line maintenance for CVC/PICC access, IV starts and maintenance, infusion pump and drip use, and IV monitoring.
- Support labor and delivery management, including amnioinfusion, high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation and recovery, forceps or vacuum extraction, hemorrhage and shock care, and sterile vaginal exams.
- Administer and monitor anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin (oxytocin), prostaglandins, and terbutaline.
- Provide neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring, baby nurse responsibilities, cord sample collection, identification and security banding, radiant warmer use, and thermoregulation.
- Assist with amniocentesis and sterile speculum examinations; perform NSTs, OCTs, reflex checks, edema assessments, clonus assessments, obstetrical triage, and external fetal monitoring with EFM.
- Provide newborn care, including circumcision assistance and postoperative site assessment, car seat education, cord care, discharge teaching, infant identification, metabolic screening, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome care, newborn assessment, hypoglycemia care, phototherapy, circumcision-care teaching, and thermoregulation.
- Provide postpartum care, including Baby Friendly protocols, breastfeeding and lactation support, Foley catheter insertion and management, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment and care.
- Support surgical procedures including cervical cerclage and D&C.
- Care for postpartum patients with cesarean sections, couplet care needs, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and vaginal deliveries.
- Provide pain assessment and management involving epidural anesthesia, general anesthesia, IV conscious sedation, nitrous oxide, and IV patient-controlled analgesia.
- Interpret dysrhythmias and respond to cardiac monitoring and emergency-care needs.
- Follow isolation precautions and PPE procedures and support vaccine administration.
Requirements
- Current ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP certifications.
- Experience with Epic charting.

Experience
- At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience.
- Experience caring for patient assignments with ratios of 1:1 to 1:3.
- Travel nursing experience is not required.
