About This Position

Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to neonates across a range of acuity levels. Responsibilities may include monitoring, assessment, medication administration, respiratory support, family education, documentation, collaboration with the care team, and responding to changing neonatal conditions.
Requirements
Certifications: BLS and NRP Advanced.
Required skills and clinical experience:
- IV therapy, including administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, central line blood draws, central line and implanted line care, starting and maintaining IVs, UAC management, and UVC management
- Anti-seizure medications, antibiotics and antivirals, IV vasopressors, neonatal dosage calculations, steroids, and surfactants
- APGAR scoring, developmental care, patient and family teaching, phlebotomy, and thermoregulation
- Assisting with lumbar punctures, ICP monitoring, neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, therapeutic hypothermia with a cooling blanket, and ventricular peritoneal shunts
- Blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia, insulin administration, and phototherapy
- Breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk, colostomy and ileostomy management and care, bottle, breast, and gavage feedings, gastroschisis and omphalocele, necrotizing enterocolitis, placement and management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes, and post-abdominal surgery care
- Bubble CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, high-frequency ventilation, chest tube management, meconium aspiration, inhaled nitric oxide, oscillators, oxygen delivery systems, respiratory distress syndrome care, ETT and nasotracheal suctioning, tracheostomy care and management, and ventilator management including AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP
- Invasive hemodynamic monitoring and telemetry monitoring on the unit
- Isolation precautions and PPE, neonatal sepsis care, and sepsis workups
- Experience in Level 1 Nursery, NICU II, NICU III, and NICU IV settings, including NICU IV
- Care for neonates under 24-28 weeks, neonates over 34 weeks, and neonates 29-34 weeks, including neonates under 24-28 weeks
