Responsibilities
- Provide speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing therapy to adult patients in home-based settings.
- Develop and carry out individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and functional goals.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and the care team to support safe communication, nutrition, and daily participation.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust interventions as appropriate, and promote safe, person-centered care.
Requirements
- Experience with any charting system is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Voice and resonance: Acoustic Analysis.
- Adaptive equipment: Alternative Communication Devices, Augmentative Communication, Communication Board, and Memory Aide.
- Billing and documentation: Assessment, Discharge, Evaluation, OASIS, Plan of Care, Point of Service Documentation, and Reassessments.
- Dysphagia management: Bedside Swallow Evaluation, Compensatory Strategies, Frazier Free Water Protocol, Hyolaryngeal Exercises, International Dysphagia Diet, Modifying Diet Orders, Oral Motor, Passy Muir Valves, Suctioning, Thickening Agents, and Trach/Vent.
- Adult care: CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident), Degenerative Diseases, Dysarthria, Dysphagia, Fluency, Hearing Impairments, Laryngectomy, Mental, Behavioral, and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Nervous System Disorders, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), Tracheostomy, and Voice.
- Evaluation tools: Depression Screening.
- Professional skills: Patient/Family Education.
- Patient safety: Recognizing signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse.
