About This Position

Take on a 13-week Registered Nurse contract in Olympia, WA, supporting a PCU float team on night shifts. This travel assignment offers a varied patient-care setting and 36 guaranteed hours each week.

Position Details

  • Specialty: RN - General
  • Unit: Float Personnel PCU RN
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Schedule: Night shift, four 12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • Contract duration: 13 weeks
  • Start date: November 3, 2026
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care and support safe, coordinated care for assigned patients.
  • Observe and document patient status and communicate relevant updates with the care team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support continuity of care across the float assignment.

Requirements

Certifications:

  • ACLS (required)
  • NIHSS (required)

Respiratory:

  • BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Chest tubes - Emerson/PleurEvac
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
  • Nasal Cannula
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Oxygen administration
  • Oxygen tanks
  • Tracheostomy care/management

IV therapy/Phlebotomy:

  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care/management
  • Peripheral line care/management
  • Phlebotomy (required)
  • PICC line management
  • Starting and maintaining IVs

Work settings:

  • Cardiac Telemetry
  • MS/Tele
  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
  • Telemetry

Genitourinary/Renal:

  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) (required)
  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management (required)
  • Renal failure

Neurological/Psychiatric:

  • CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident)
  • Pre/Post neurosurgery (required)
  • Seizure disorders
  • Spinal cord injury (required)
  • Substance Withdrawal (required)
  • Traumatic Brain injury (required)

Medications:

  • Epidural analgesia (required)
  • Heparin Protocols
  • Manage Cardiac drips - no titration
  • Manage Vasoactive drips - no titration
  • Titrate Cardiac drips
  • Titrate Vasoactive drips (required)

Gastrointestinal:

  • Feeding tube care and management

Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response:

  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Telemetry - on the unit monitoring
  • Telemetry - remote monitoring
  • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams

Professional Topics and Skills:

  • Isolation Precautions/PPE
  • Wound Care/Wound Vac (required)

Endocrine/Metabolic:

  • IV insulin protocols (required)
  • Titration of Insulin drips (required)

Orthopedics:

  • Ortho trauma (required)
  • Peripheral nerve block catheters (required)
  • Total joint replacement (required)

Cardiovascular:

  • Pacemakers/Temporary/Permanent (required)
  • Post Cardiac Angiogram (required)
  • Post MI (required)
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Cath (required)
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery (required)
  • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) (required)

Plastics:

  • Surgical drains (required)
