Requirements

• Experience: 2 years of RN experience
• CVICU experience required
• Certifications (required): ACLS, BLS, CCRN
• Charting system: Preferred Epic
• Travel experience: Not required

Responsibilities

• Provide RN care for patients in a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Manage complex lines and infusion therapies, including starting and maintaining IVs and accessing/managing ports
• Administer blood products and provide central line care/management, including PICC line management
• Support renal/cardiac critical care needs, including Acute Kidney Injury, chronic/acute renal failure, and CVVHD/CRRT
• Perform intake and output monitoring and support pre/post hemodialysis management
• Assess urine output and support renal transplant patient care (as applicable)
• Provide respiratory care including pulmonary edema and pulmonary embolism, with care of ventilated patients
• Manage oxygenation and ventilation support (e.g., BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ventilator management)
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and support suctioning needs (ETT/NT)
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal as required
• Support cardiovascular monitoring and advanced therapies, including CVP monitoring, and post-cardiac surgery/post-cath needs
• Provide care for patients with advanced cardiac devices and interventions (e.g., CABG context, epicardial pacing wire care, Impella, IABP, pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, and valve repair/replacement)
• Participate in infection prevention practices, isolation precautions/PPE, and adherence to major protocols such as massive transfusion protocol
• Manage titration of therapies, including cardiac drips and vasoactive drips
• Support neurologic protocols, including hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
• Support endocrine/metabolic care, including IV insulin protocols
• Respond to emergencies by interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and supporting patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Maintain competency with key professional skills such as INR, PT/PTT, and thrombolike monitoring as applicable
• Use telemetry and support conscious sedation responsibilities when required
