Pay

Requirements

  • Experience: 1 year of experience
  • Charting System: Required — Epic
  • Certifications (required): BLS, CNOR
  • Trauma Level II Experience: Preferred
  • Travel Experience Required: No

Responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative nursing care in the Main OR across a wide variety of case types and patient needs.
  • Support safe surgical operations through strong attention to infection control and universal protocol (time-out).
  • Assist with specimen handling/labeling and maintain safe workflow from prep through turnover.
  • Participate in appropriate wound management practices.
  • Maintain safety with laser safety and radiation safety protocols when applicable.
  • Administer/assist with blood & blood products per unit standards.
  • Prepare equipment and instrumentation, including supporting use of cell saver and electrosurgical units.

  • Gynecology: Abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy; Bilateral tubal ligation; laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures
  • Neurology (required where noted): ALIF (required); Anterior cervical fusion (required); Cervical fusions (required); craniotomy; insertion of VP shunt (required); laminectomy/discectomy; lumbar fusion
  • Trauma (required where noted): Amputations (required); gunshot/stab wounds (required); MVA/multiple injuries (required)
  • General Surgery: Appendectomy; cholecystectomy; colon resection; hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical); laparoscopic assisted procedures; mastectomy (required); thyroidectomy partial/total; Whipple
  • Pediatric General Surgery (required where noted): Appendectomy (required); central venous line insertion/removal (required); cholecystectomy (required); circumcision (required); colon resection (required); colostomy/ileostomy creation/closure/reversal (required); epigastric hernia repair (required); exploratory laparotomy (required); inguinal hernia repair (required); scrub laparoscopic surgery (required)
  • Orthopedic: Arthroscopy; closed reduction of fractures; laminectomy/discectomy; open reduction of fractures; ortho/spine; spinal fusion; total joint replacement
  • Pediatric Orthopedic (required where noted): Closed reduction of fractures (required); open reduction of fractures (required)
  • Endoscopic Procedures (required where noted): Bronchoscopy (required)
  • Robotics (required where noted): Colorectal robotic surgery (required); Da Vinci Xi Surgical System (required); gynecologic robotic surgery (required)
  • Urology: Cystoscopy; laparoscopic assisted cases; nephrectomy; prostatectomy; TURP
  • Pediatric Urology (required where noted): Cystoscopy/cystogram/pyelogram (required); ochiectomy/orchidopexy (required)
  • Ophthalmology (required where noted): Eye trauma (required)
  • Emergency Management (required where noted): Fire safety; malignant hyperthermia (required)
  • Plastics (required where noted): Free flap - microvascular (required); mastectomy with tram flap reconstruction (required)
