Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum process.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support maternal and fetal well-being.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow applicable safety and infection-control practices.
Requirements
- ACLS certification required.
- AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, and NRP certifications required.
- Teaching hospital experience required.
- Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy, including administration of blood and blood products and maintenance of central lines (CVC/PICC).
- Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy.
- Labor and Delivery skills, including assisting with high-risk delivery, circulating for C-section, recovering C-section patients, and performing sterile vaginal exams.
- Pain management skills, including epidural anesthesia, pain assessment and management, and use of IV PCA.
- Isolation precautions and PPE proficiency.
- Antepartum skills, including triage of obstetrical patients.
- Fetal monitoring skills, including IUPC placement and calibration.
- Postpartum skills, including wound assessment and care.
