Responsibilities
- Apply aseptic technique while preparing and handling loaner consignment trays and loaner trays.
- Organize trays, place instruments on trays, select appropriate wrapping materials, and complete sterilization wrapping procedures with proper labeling.
- Perform decontamination and disinfection using automated endoscope reprocessors (AER), chemical agents for decontamination, manual cleaning, high-level disinfection (HLD), ultrasonic cleaners, and washers/sterilizers.
- Clean equipment including crash carts, IV pumps, and PCA pumps.
- Complete biological indicator, chemical indicator, steam sterilization, Steris, and Sterrad testing and monitoring.
- Reprocess bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, cystoscopes, EGD scopes, endobronchial ultrasound scopes (EBUS), endoscopic ultrasound scopes (EUS), enteroscopes, ERCP scopes, fiber optics, flex sigmoidoscopes, and uteroscopes.
- Process specialty equipment for cardiac, dental, ear/nose/throat, general, laparoscopic, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, ortho/total joints, orthopedics, plastics, robotics, transplant, trauma, urology, and vascular procedures.
- Complete scope and probe reprocessing and assemble sets and trays.
- Maintain equipment documentation and work within the Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM).
Requirements
- Acute hospital operating room experience is required.
- Epic charting system experience is required.
- CBSPD certification with HSPA, or CBSPD certification with IAHCSMM/HSPA credentials.
