Responsibilities
- Support the sterile processing workflow for surgical services in an acute hospital setting.
- Maintain organized, safe, and efficient processing practices throughout assigned shifts.
- Work collaboratively with surgical services and related clinical teams.
- Follow applicable policies, procedures, and infection-prevention practices.
Requirements
- Travel experience is required.
- CBSPD and HSPA, or CBSPD and IAHCSMM/HSPA certification.
- Acute hospital operating room experience.
- Epic charting experience.
- Aseptic technique.
- Loaner consignment trays and loaner trays.
- Organizing trays and placing instruments on trays.
- Proper labeling.
- Proper selection of wrapping materials.
- Sterilization wrapping procedures.
- Automated Endoscope Reprocessors (AER).
- Chemical agents for decontamination.
- Cleaning equipment, including crash carts, IV pumps, and PCA pumps.
- High-Level Disinfection (HLD).
- Manual cleaning.
- Ultrasonic cleaner.
- Use of washers/sterilizers.
- Biological indicators and chemical indicators.
- Steam sterilization testing/monitoring.
- Steris testing/monitoring.
- Sterrad testing/monitoring.
- Flexible endoscope reprocessing for bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, cystoscopes, EGD scopes, endobronchial ultrasound scopes (EBUS), endoscopic ultrasound scopes (EUS), enteroscopes, ERCP scopes, fiber optics, flex sigmoidoscopes, and uteroscopes.
- Specialty equipment processing for cardiac, dental, ear/nose/throat, general, laparoscopic, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, ortho/total joints, orthopedics, plastics, robotics, transplant, trauma, urology, and vascular services.
- Equipment documentation.
- Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM).
- Scope/probe reprocessing.
- Sets/trays assembly.
