Position Details

  • Shift options: Day shift, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM, or night shift, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM
  • Assignment duration: 26 weeks

  • Guaranteed hours: 36 per week

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care for laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns in an LDRP setting. Support safe deliveries, monitor maternal and fetal status, provide newborn care, and deliver patient and family education across the perinatal experience.

Requirements

Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced (required), AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, and NRP.

Charting: Epic experience is preferred.

  • IV therapy and phlebotomy: Administration of blood and blood products; drawing venous blood (required); starting and maintaining IVs; and use of infusion pumps, drips, and IV monitoring.
  • Labor and delivery management: Amnioinfusion (required); assisting with high-risk delivery (required); assisting with vaginal delivery; forceps/vacuum extraction; hemorrhage/shock; and sterile vaginal examination.
  • Medication administration: Antihypertensives; insulin drips (required); magnesium sulfate therapy; Pitocin (oxytocin); prostaglandins; and terbutaline.
  • Neonatal care in the delivery room: APGAR scores; baby nurse or “baby catcher” duties (required); ID/security banding; and radiant warmers/thermoregulation.
  • Newborn care: Assist with circumcision and assess the site postoperatively (required); car seat education (required); cord care; discharge teaching to parents; infant identification; metabolic screening (required); neonatal abstinence syndrome care; newborn assessment; newborn hypoglycemia care; phototherapy (required); teaching circumcision care to parents; and thermoregulation.
  • Postpartum care and procedures: Breastfeeding and lactation support; Foley catheter insertion and management; fundus, lochia, and perineum care; and wound assessment and care.
  • Postpartum care for patients with: Cesarean section; couplet care; multiple births (required); postpartum hemorrhage; pregnancy-induced hypertension; and vaginal delivery.
  • Pain management: Epidural anesthesia and pain assessment and management.
  • Professional skills: Isolation precautions/PPE and vaccine administration.
  • Fetal monitoring: Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns; use of external fetal monitoring; use of internal fetal monitoring (required); and IUPC placement and calibration (required).
  • Antepartum care: Triage of obstetrical patients.
