Responsibilities
Support respiratory and neurodiagnostic care by delivering safe, timely respiratory treatments; managing airways and ventilatory support; performing suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, and specimen collection; and collaborating with the care team during routine and urgent situations.
Requirements
- ACLS certification (required)
- BLS certification
- PALS certification (required)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Washington license
- Medication delivery systems: aerosol setup with mask, aerosol setup with tracheostomy, Medihaler, and metered-dose inhaler (MDI)
- Medication administration: Albuterol, Atrovent, Bicarbonate (required), Combivent, Flovent, inhaled Flolan (required), inhaled steroids, Isuprel, Ketamine (required), Lidocaine, Mucomyst (required), Nitric Oxide (iNO) (required), Perforomist, Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Theophylline (required), Tobramycin, and Xopenex
- Ventilator management: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms (required), and weaning from mechanical ventilation (required)
- Work setting experience in the Emergency Department (required) and pediatrics (required)
- Airway management and suctioning: extubation, nasal airway placement, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oral/nasal suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy care and management
- Nebulizer use: handheld, T-piece, and tracheostomy collar
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Oxygen therapy using a tracheostomy collar
- Trauma and rapid response skills (required)
