About This Position

Responsibilities
Provide safe, organized nursing care for patients in a progressive care and stepdown setting. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team, monitor patient status, respond to changes in condition, document care accurately, and support patient and family education within the nursing scope of practice.
Requirements
Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Epic charting experience is required.

- BiPAP/CPAP management
- Chest tubes, including Emerson and PleurEvac systems
- High-flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oxygen tanks
- Interpretation of arterial blood gases and non-invasive airway management
- Tracheostomy care and management
- Blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care and management
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Cardiac telemetry, telemetry, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care
- Continuous bladder irrigation and pre/post hemodialysis management
- Renal failure and renal transplant care
- TURP care
- CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, and traumatic brain injury care
- Epidural analgesia
- Heparin protocols
- Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration
- Patient-controlled analgesia
- Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Feeding tube care and management
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- On-unit and remote telemetry monitoring
- Use of rapid response and code teams
- Isolation precautions and PPE
- Wound care and wound vac management
- IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Pacemaker care, including temporary and permanent devices
- Post-cardiac angiogram and post-MI care
- Pre/post cardiac catheterization and cardiac surgery care
- Sheath removal and TR Band management
- Skin graft care
- Surgical drain management

Experience
- At least 1 year of nursing experience
- Experience caring for a 1:4–5 patient ratio
- Previous charge experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Travel nursing experience is not required
