Responsibilities
Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for patients in a progressive care and stepdown setting. Collaborate with the care team, monitor patient status, respond to changing clinical needs, document care accurately, and support emergency response procedures according to established protocols.
Requirements
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Epic charting experience required
- Respiratory care skills: BiPAP/CPAP management; chest tubes using Emerson/PleurEvac; High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC); interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs); nasal cannula; non-invasive airway management; oxygen administration; oxygen tanks; and tracheostomy care/management
- IV therapy and phlebotomy skills: blood product administration; central line care/management; peripheral line care/management; PICC line management; and starting and maintaining IVs
- Work setting experience with cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown, and telemetry
- Genitourinary and renal skills: continuous bladder irrigation (CBI); pre/post hemodialysis management; renal failure; renal transplant required; and TURP required
- Neurological and psychiatric skills: CVA (cerebrovascular accident); seizure disorders required; substance withdrawal; and traumatic brain injury
- Medication skills: epidural analgesia required; heparin protocols; management of cardiac drips without titration; management of vasoactive drips without titration; PCA; titration of cardiac drips; and titration of vasoactive drips
- Gastrointestinal skill: feeding tube care and management
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills: interpretation of dysrhythmias; management of dysrhythmias; telemetry with on-unit monitoring; telemetry with remote monitoring; and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Professional skills: isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Endocrine and metabolic skills: IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
- Cardiovascular skills: pacemakers, temporary and permanent; post cardiac angiogram; post MI; pre/post cardiac cath; pre/post cardiac surgery; sheath removal; and TR Band
- Plastics skills: skin grafts required and surgical drains

Experience
- At least 1 year of nursing experience
- Patient ratio experience of 1:4-5
- Previous charge experience preferred
